Look past the tattoos and the denim jacket and you will find Alex Lakusta, a jazz bassist hailing from Toronto, ON. At home on both electric and upright bass, Alex has been a mainstay in the Toronto music scene for almost a decade. After years of  finding his footing as a touring sideman in rock and pop he has landed firmly where he began in jazz.  Alex has never been afraid to push into new ground and his latest music is proof of that. On the bass, his creative approach is unrelenting, insightful, and full of vigor.

His debut release “Transmit Slow” can be described as post-jazz with a tinge of electronica. Taking inspiration from the modern electronic world, his compositions paint pictures of wires, static, short-circuits and communication airwaves alike.
